My name is Alex Lugo and I'm a full-stack web developer. Hit me up if you want a high-quality website built quick. I communicate directly with my clients to design sites perfectly in tune with their vision. I can craft a website of any design imaginable or otherwise. My prices are always negotiable and will be decided upon after I hear what kind of site you want. Some jobs may take more time or money than others if I need to learn a new technology.
In addition to building websites, I also design and create custom logos. This is optional and does not come at any extra charge to the client. I do not provide hosting services at this time. I can build any sort of server you want me to, but I won't pay for hosting and can't provide you with my own hosting service.
Chris Cobbs was one of my first web development clients. Fun fact: I met him at a Mexico/Puerto Rico charity fundraiser in DC. He wanted a redesigned personal site - something minimalist, sleek and refined. If you click the link above you'll see the final design we agreed upon.
One day while driving home from school I got the idea to make all my developer tools available in one place online. It would be a web repo for all the dev tools I've written. That way I could share my development process with the world. Thus Toolbox was born, accompanied by the first server I ever deployed onto the cloud. Hosting for this site is done by a free PythonAnywhere account, so it takes a few secodns to start up after inactivity.
One day while designing a webapp I thought it would be a good idea to use components (like in Angular). I didn't want to devote time to learning Angular (and running a client daemon seemed odd to me) so instead I just built my own front-end web framework. Yes, I see the irony in that. I decided to make my framework public (and since then it's been used by some other developers I know) so naturally I had to make a website for it.
I designed this site in my senior year of high school as a way to cut down on paper (too many people wanted my resume so I'd just point them to this site). I still keep the content updates and perform small style or code edits every now and then.
While it may seem a little redundant to some, I wanted to have a fresh site to upload to all my campus web spaces. As such I started to build what's basically a UMD-centric version of my resume site. It was a fun excuse to try out some css that was new to me at the time.
Like any good web developer, I design my sites for the major modern browsers. I don't usually support Microsoft browsers (IE is a nightmare and Edge is a joke).
I guarantee that my sites work on the following browsers:
If you want your site guaranteed to work on Internet Explorer or any other browser, you will need to let me know. The same goes for browsers on mobile devices. During standard testing I open my sites in the four browsers listed above for different window sizes and zoom factors. I do not test on mobile unless specifically told to do so.
I'm flexible with pricing. The baseline for a standard website is $300, but this can be lowered provided you have a good reason.
The cost of your site will increase if I have to do any of the following:
Single-page and static sites will be significantly cheaper than large web applications. I don't charge extra for having to learn a new framework or platform only if I've been wanting to learn it anyway. Clients are expected to pay for hosting after development is done (you may have complete control over where your site is hosted).
Over my many years of web development experience I've worked with various languages, platforms and frameworks. Below you'll find all of the tools I've used for web development and how comfortable I am using them.
Just to clarify what the labels in this section mean:
These do not represent every framework, platform and server-side language I have developed in. Listed above are just the most well-known and widely-used technologies.
Find me on social media, email me, or look at my resume.
It's best to approach me on Twitter or Facebook. I don't check the email given above that often, but if you have a serious request I'll give you my main email.
You should expect me to Google you if you make a request for a site. I like to know what my clients stand for and why they need something built.
Because I'm a sucker for crazy logos and iconography, here's a list of all the frameworks I used to create this website:
